Tips for Baccarat
The game of Baccarat is almost a draw when it comes to determining the winner. The odds of the
player and dealer winning are almost the same (player 44.6%, dealer 45.8% and ties 9.5%). The
game is one of pure luck with little strategy for winning. Thus you have limited chances of
increasing your odds of winning. There are some things to consider to increase your odds.
- Betting on a tie is one of the worst bets in the casino. Don't make this bet. A tie bet gives a house advantage of 14.12%, it pays 8 to 1 and is dealt just over 9.5% of the time. A few casinos pay 9 to 1 for ties reducing the house advantage to 4.57%.
- Some casinos have reduced their commissions from the normal 5% to 4% use these casinos if you can find them. A reduction in commission of 1% reduces the house edge 43% from 1.17% to 0.67%. Baccarat at 4% commission is one of the best bets in the entire casino.
- Bet with the side most likely to increase your winnings. When the house commission charged is 4% or 5% bet with the house but when the house charges 6% commission you should bet with the player.
The following is an attempt to show how different house commissions should influence how you
should wager.
In our example we are making 100 bets of $1 each. Because ties result in a push we will remove
them from the example. By removing ties from our example the chances of the player winning are
49.32% and losing 50.68%. With the various commissions the following results will be obtained.
Note that because of the house edge you always lose.
